Riot Games Pre-Jam Panel!
Announcing the Riot Games Pre-Jam Panel!
Riot Games will be presenting a pre-Jam panel that Game Jam participants can attend. The panel will feature three Riot game developers from their Santa Monica studio (check out the panelists’ info below). They will share their experience working on League of Legends, offer advice to rock the game jam, and answer questions about working in the game industry. Oh, and they will be sticking around to Jam!
The panel will take place from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM in room 118 of UMSL’s Social Science & Business Building. Please arrive at the event some time between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM (at least 4:45 PM if you don’t want to miss anything), get checked in and pick up your T-Shirt in room 222, then make your way to room 118 for the panel. If you can’t make it by 5:00 PM, sign-ins will stay open until 6:00 PM when the event officially kicks off.
If you haven’t pre-registered yet, please sign up right now!
Your Riot Games panelists are:
Ryan Giuliany is a member of the game design team (officially a “Design Analyst”…whatever that means) at Riot Games. His academic background is in creating clever ways to crunch stupidly large amounts of biological data to try to learn new things about cancer. At Riot he has worked on expanding the Tribunal beyond North America and Europe, updating the in-game bot AI, and is currently the product owner on the Game Systems team. Game System’s most recent work was the 2015 pre-season update.
Rowan Parker leads the design on Featured Game Modes in League of Legends….(those evil Doom Bots!) He lived in Japan most of his adult life, and was an indie dev for many years before joining Riot. At Riot he enjoys jamming with the team to create fun new modes inside of LoL, as well as tweaking and improving old player favorites. In his free time, Rowan is actively involved in the indie scene, working to bridge the gap between East and West. He participated in the very first Global Game Jam in 2009 and has been doing it every year since, including hosting the Kyoto Global Game Jam for the last 2 years in a row.
Reina Sweet works on technical design at Riot Games, which is basically a game designer with software engineer powers. Before Riot she was a software engineer, a card counter, and an art school dropout. At Riot she’s worked on the design of season 2015 and previously tinkering the engineering side of intro bots, the item shop, and season 2 launch.
