Daniel Eichling, I currently do consulting for agile software development projects including games and gamification, and run the Social Competitive Gaming Network, a non-profit organization focused on social gaming initiatives.
From the GGJ website, after the location was posted on Twitter (yes, I hate to admit it but there ya go)
Yes! I participated in the 2009 and 2010 jams from Perth, Australia. I worked on the “Little Shop of Farters” and “SIF” titles respectively.
Because game jams are awesome, and the GGJ is the biggest and the best.
Whatever makes sense for the team! Seriously though, I’ll aim to use whatever we all know that is fast and simple. In the past I’ve used Unity and Construct, there are some other great quick prototyping engines out there like Corona and AGS. XNA is fine too if you’ve got some programmer power to burn. I’m also a big fan of agile development, so keep the scope small, focused, and iterate, iterate, iterate, even if you only have 24 hours!
Let’s go with 5 – WoW, Braid, Xenogears, Dominion, Xcom
Yes, EVERYBODY should come! Even if making a video game scares you then just sit down and make a board game. It’s a fantastic way to meet the game development community and work with some peers. Besides, there’s free food right?
