Second Chance

(PC executable) Second Chance

Implementation notes, July 15, 2011:

  • The current version is completely working, so it is possible to play as both “Harm” and “Help”
  • It is best to play in Windowed mode (not full screen), so that the game can be closed easily.

Game Description:
A young man with a grudge goes on a rampage, destroying property and lives. An old man follows in his wake, trying to help those who have been injured.

The game abstracts violence, healing, humans, and architecture into extraordinarily simple shapes and colors. It is intended to study and comment on, rather than copy or simulate, the stereotypical video game ‘murder simulator’.

HARM is the score, and the 1-2-3 icons in the lower left are the lives remaining.

The red player (Harm) will die if he touches blue walls, and vice versa.

Harm scores 10 points for each wall and 50 points for each white cube; after a set amount, the exit will open and Harm can escape. Help will then enter, and must reduce Harm’s score by 150 before the level exit opens.
