Description:
The idea was that when the player (as the prince) reaches the exit the princess would begin chasing them as they made their way back to the beginning. That didn’t work so well because the player could just sit still and time things so that they could easily avoid the princess.
On Sunday morning we changed it so that the time limit is extremely short and you need to collect crowns to increase it until you have all of the crowns and can complete the level. The princess begins chasing you when you grab your first crown, so she’s right on your tail the whole time! With this simple change, the game went from being not much fun to being the sort of obsessive compulsive difficulty that makes you say, “just one more try!”
The team was able to pull things together and are VERY happy with how it turned out. Don’t be surprised if this game ends up on the Xbox Indie Games Channel. This was the best GameJam ever!
