La laa, la la la la laa laa, laa la, Katamari Damacy

I have to be honest, I was kind of bummed out when I heard that being part of the Global Game Jam meant that we’d have to begin our GameJam by watching a boring keynote speech. I’m comin’ to make games! Thankfully, rather than something boring and pointless, the Global Game Jam team got Keita Takahashi to do the speech. This guy is the brain behind the single greatest PS2 game of all time, Katamari Damacy. He’s also so freaking punk rock that when Namco asked him to make a sequel, he made a game about being asked to make a sequel, and when he was asked to continue making sequels he quit the company and started making playgrounds. Here’s a guy who understands how important it is to take advantage of every chance we’re given to express our creativity. That’s what the GameJam is ultimately about.

If you’ve already signed up, make sure you get to the jam by 5:00PM on the 28th. If not, click the button and sign up now.

This weekend and this keynote will be two things you don’t want to miss.
